At the amfAR Gala in Cannes, the night unfolded not as a spectacle of celebrity, but as a demonstration of cultural power mobilized for a purpose that transcends the red carpet. At Hôtel du Cap‑Eden‑Roc, artists, actors, musicians and global figures gathered with intention – to turn visibility into impact, and presence into action – reinforcing amfAR’s mission to accelerate the end of HIV/AIDS.
Hosted by Academy Award‑winner Geena Davis, the evening carried a rare clarity of purpose. Performances by Robbie Williams, Zara Larsson, and Lizzo charged the gala with momentum, while supporters including Rami Malek, Sofia Carson, Coco Rocha, Adrien Grenier, Robin Thicke, Sara Sampaio, Kevin Trapp, Izabel Goulart, Natasha Poly, Brooks Nader, Ed Westwick, Amy Jackson, Kyle Kuzma, Maura Higgins, Georgia Fowler, Paul Pogba, Sveva Alviti, William Abadie, Pia Wurtzbach, Honey Dijon, and others stood behind the cause with conviction. Their presence was not ornamental – it was advocacy, amplification, and a reminder that influence carries responsibility.
What defines the Cannes event is not glamour, but alignment: the understanding that cultural figures can accelerate scientific progress simply by choosing to stand with it. In a world saturated with noise, their collective voice cuts through with purpose. amfAR’s movement does not end in Cannes. The organization now expands its global arc of action with two landmark gatherings: a major event in London, bringing philanthropy and culture into one of Europe’s most dynamic capitals; and amfAR Venezia, returning during the Venice International Film Festival, where this year’s celebration will honor Marina Abramović and fuel biomedical research through performance, art and auction. Together, these events form a continuum – Cannes, London, Venice – each one driven by the same message: Support. Act. Keep pushing until the finish line.
