October has slipped away quickly, and what a month it has been. London Fashion Week drew to a close, and Paris Fashion Week began its long run, filling the calendar with collections that ask to be looked at twice.
This issue’s cover story belongs to Estelle Cheng, who goes above and beyond to deliver. Some people follow established paths, and others forge their own. Cheng is firmly in the second camp. As she puts it, “I may not always win, but I will always stay at the table.” It is a line that feels like a manifesto, and a reminder that presence matters as much as victory.
The runways have given us plenty to admire. Rubin Singer presented HOMOMORPHISM, Mengzuoni offered an exquisite collection, and 5000 debuted with a striking audio presentation at NewGen. Sabirah’s modest couture revealed its enigmatic side, and a host of other designers kept the momentum going from London to Paris. Our month closed with a fabulous exhibition by Anish Kapoor.
Next, we turn our eyes to November, when Frieze London, Art Basel and a wealth of visual art will take centre stage.
Keep creating, we admire your zeal.
