Tata Khachatrian
Actress – Producer Writer – Musician
From the historic streets of St. Petersburg, Tata Khachatrian emerged as a force of creativity – an actress, producer, writer, and musician whose artistic journey was set in motion at an early age. By four, she had already embarked on her musical education, mastering the piano over nine years with the same discipline and passion that would later define her theatrical career. At the Conservatory’s Children’s Drama School, she wasn’t simply a student – she was a star in the making. Leading roles became second nature as she refined her craft in acting, vocal performance, stage speech, and dance. The city’s cultural heartbeat pulsed through her veins.

Then came 2010, a turning point. The newly founded Children’s Drama School at the State Theater of Musical Comedy opened its doors, and Tata was among the bright young talents gracing its stage. That same year, she stepped into the grandeur of the Mariinsky Theater, cast in ‘Duke Bluebeard’s Castle’. Under the visionary direction of Daniel Cramer and the celebrated baton of Valery Gergiyev, she portrayed the Duke’s eldest daughter in a production so masterful it earned a nomination for the Golden Mask Russian National Theater Award. Momentum carried her forward. By 2011, she was lighting up the state theater in ‘Oliver Twist’, seamlessly embodying the roles of Charlotte and Beth under the direction of Attila Rethly. Soon after, television beckoned, and in 2012, she was offered a role in the series ‘The Farmer’, collaborating with one of film’s leading directors.
The evolution continued in 2013 when she doubled up as both Princess Jasmine and a journalist in ‘Aladdin’, directed by Wojciech Kempczinski. That same summer, she took her commitment to the craft to the next level, enrolling in the prestigious Russian Academy of Theatre Art (GITIS). Over the next four years, she honed her artistry, graduating in 2017 while remaining a vibrant presence on the Theatre of Musical Comedy’s stage. Then, in 2019, Tata co-created something deeply personal – a one-woman theatrical experience, ‘Shagane. The Poet’s Secret’, in collaboration with Armenian theatre director Karo Balyan. A homage to Shagane, the muse of Russian poet Yesenin, the play debuted at the Hakob Paronyan State Musical Comedy Theatre in Yerevan before making its way to the famed Alexandrinsky Theatre in Russia in early 2020.

Today, Tata continues to mesmerise audiences with her solo production, touring across Armenia and beyond, while simultaneously making waves in film. Her contributions to Armenian culture and theatrical artistry earned her a commendation from the Ministry of Culture of Armenia—a fitting tribute to an artist whose journey is still unfolding, one luminous performance at a time.
